Jose Felix Almanzar, Jr., A.K.A Flex, is the founder and CEO of On The Flipsyde, a New York based recording studio and production company. Founded in the year 1999, On The Flipsyde actually began its success story as an urban-oriented Hip Hop and R&B magazine. The scope of the magazine covered the lives of up-and-coming and established artists – their struggles as musicians and even provided a glimpse into their private lives. Although Flex has always had an affinity and love for music (and even a brief career as a celebrity break dancer), it was not until the magazine launched that he discovered his true love and passion for producing music and for working in the entertainment industry.
On The Flipsyde magazine brought Flex to various high end recording studios in New York City, including NOLA Recording Studios, a subsidiary of TRA, which has worked for huge clients like Sesame Street and with notables like Rita Moreno of West Side Story. Since that time, he had always dreamed of some day finding a dynamic team of artists and opening up a music studio/production company. Flex’s dream, and that of David Freire and Jose De Jesus as well, are now realized at On the Flipsyde.
Over the past number of years, On The Flipsyde has been retained to work on various projects and commercials for artists like DJ Cintronics of Sirius Satellite Radio and other more community-based projects. The studio has been highlighted in publications including “10 Successful Startups” by Harry Wells and other periodicals as a stable, successful and community-oriented business. Flex’s vision is to provide effective and quality leadership throughout the artists’ creative process in order to produce quality music for our clients. It’s that simple!
On The Flipsyde is being sought after more and more to do film scoring and other major projects; however, the studio still remains true to its roots -- Hip hop and R&B. On The Flipsyde is not limited to this specifically, and is well-equipped to tackle the needs of clients within any musical genre. On The Flipsyde provides an opportunity to discover the hidden talents of the artists that work on their projects here, and feels privileged to do so. Flex will never forget his roots because they serve as the foundation for all of the opportunities and enterprises life brings his way.
